What do I do with my curly/wavy/straight hair?

I need help with something I've always struggled with. I'm trying to keep from straightening or curling my hair all the time and for my hair still be able to look good down. Unfortunately I have some weird hair. I have curly baby hairs around my hairline. Wavy around the ears and my bangs. Then the top is straight. I've tried straight and sleek shampoos and conditioners to try to straighten out my waves and curls. I've tried products to try to enhance my wave and curls, but the straight top layer stays straight. My solution has been to put it up in a messy bun. I'm tired of doing that. People always ask me why I don't wear my hair down. Anyone have any suggestions? I've never seen hair like mine.
