I know it lame to ask someone out over text but is this ok?

i usually prefer texting and absolutely hate talking on the phone, however i know its lame to ask a girl out via text so i never do it. i called a girl earlier today and got no answer, she texted back a while later. its late now and she texted instead of called so is it cool if i ask her out via text?
